2015 – Get it done!
The Hatchet story began back in 2015 when founders, Matt and Daniel knew they could create something unique. They decided to give Perth’s businesses something they really needed; a digital agency capable of creating digital solutions to meet the diverse set of problems local companies face as they grow and develop.
Since it’s inception, Hatchet has grown from the status of a bright idea to a fully realised solutions provider, connecting businesses in Perth and Western Australia with a unique set of comprehensive web services across app & software development, web design, hosting and databases.

The Love of Programming
2016 – Laracon 2016
We are so fortunate to be using the tools and services that are available to us today. Over the last 15 years, the cost to develop software has significantly decreased. One of the contributing factors to our success has been leveraging modern programming frameworks such as Laravel. So much so that in 2016 we made the trip out to Kentucky,
We are constantly playing around with new technologies, building tools and services. Building our own timekeeping software that integrates with Xero to ensure that everything is in check has helped us automate a significant part of our business. Finding new ways of innovating and streamlining processes makes our job so much easier and provides us more time to help focus on our clients.
Coworking – Spacecubed
2017 – Stepping it up a notch!
In May 2017 we started kicking things into gear by joining Flux, one of the co-working spaces a part of Spacecubed. It has been one of the greatest decisions to date. Creating modern day software in a modern day working environment has been key to our success. Being a part of a community that is continually growing, highly engaged and active within the Perth community has most certainly helped us to help our customers.
Being able to tap into a larger professional network, programs and events
Over the course of 2017, we created a number of projects in collaboration with Drawhistory; a brand agency that helps business and NFPs understand how to deliver a meaningful social impact. Working closely with Jeff & Angel, along with their talented team, delivering impactful projects such as building the Social Impact Festival website are projects that make us truly proud of what we do.
Getting things Right
2018 – Interns, new staff, new projects!
It’s pretty amazing how the technology and software that we deliver to organisations can make a significant difference. As it stands, we have built over 100 projects ranging from websites, simple tools and complex CRM’s sitting within our private secure Gitlab server, that’s a lot of lines of code!
But we can’t do it ourselves.
Having a team, partners and a community to back us is all a part of the journey.
We quite often run pro-bono projects and provide internship opportunities to help those looking to get into our space, skill up and deliver successful projects. Those that have spent time with us interning have been valuable in the successful outcomes of those projects and we’ll always be thankful for their input.
Finding ways to help those helping others at a larger scale, we feel, is an awesome thing to be doing. The latest pro-bono project we have jumped on board with is to help out the duo-team Kathryn and Penny at Flanno get their street-wear label established to help support organisations doing great work in the mental health & suicide prevention space.
